About This Opening
One of the oldest and most romantic openings in chess. White sacrifices a pawn for rapid development and a fierce kingside attack. A favorite of Paul Morphy.
Why Play It?
Leads to wild, tactical positions. White opens the f-file and gets fast attacking chances against Black's king. Pure attacking chess.
Key Ideas
- Sacrifice the f-pawn for rapid development
- Open the f-file for the rook
- Attack the Black king before it can castle
- Play d4 and Bc4 for maximum piece activity
